SUZANNE SHELDON, DVM
I decided at the age of 4 to be my dog Jack's doctor and I never gave up on the cause! I have been involved in veterinary medicine for over 20 years and earned my veterinary doctorate from the University of Georgia in 2008. I have been a vet for a wide variety of species, everything from 2000 pound bulls to tiny rodents. While most of my patients have been of the furry variety, some have been feathered, shelled or even scaled. Nothing gives me more pleasure and fulfillment than treating pets in their home environment. After years of slowly becoming more disenchanted with the corporate direction of veterinary medicine I decided to establish French Broad Mobile Vet. My new life as a full time visiting vet is very exciting. I love meeting pets and their people in their own environment. It adds depths to being a vet that I previously never experienced in the office and allows me to give the personal time and attention my patients need and deserve. When not making housecalls I love hiking, kayaking, gardening and spending time with my family at our home in Marshall, NC.
We currently have one small alien dog <--- Mia and fiery barn cat named Darth.
JACKIE MOBLEY, TECHNICIAN/RECEPTIONIST
Jackie has been working professionally with animals for over 18 years. Originally from Iowa, she has worked as a dog trainer, kennel attendant, and zookeeper, but she spent the majority of that time caring for great apes. For almost a decade, she has worked primarily with orangutans, coming to North Carolina straight from a career at a nonprofit ape rescue/sanctuary in Florida. Jackie has worked with Dr. Sheldon directly in the veterinary field for over 5 years and very much enjoys her career as a technician in this more personalized in-home setting. Outside of work, Jackie is outdoors as much as possible, hiking our beautiful mountains and working to grow food on her small farm outside Burnsville. She lives there with her partner Henry, and their two rescue dogs, cat, and rabbit.
Recently, Jackie has moved into a new career field. She spends the majority of her time running her own dog training business. You can find information about Happy Trails Dog Solutions by emailing her at HTDogSolution@gmail.com.
We miss you Jackie!
